Sculptor Roman de Salvo created Utility Filigree to illuminate a stairwell, applying his signature 'modular macrame' motif to create unique light fixtures by weaving boxes, connectors and electrical tubing into a symmetrical kaleidoscope pattern. "The ... pattern goes through a crescendo as it goes up. Something at the end becomes quasi-religious; as the final motif, I wanted it to be somewhat magnificent." Mission accomplished.
